The Mirabel Centre is a sexual assault referral centre established and managed by Partnership for Justice, a nongovernmental organisation (NGO). The Mirabel Centre provides free, high-quality forensic medical examination, trauma counselling sessions, laboratory tests and medical treatment to survivors of sexual assault and rape. It provides forensic medical reports to the police to aid in the investigation and subsequent prosecution of perpetrators. The Mirabel Centre is the first sexual assault referral centre in Nigeria and the second in West Africa. Since it opened to the public in 2013, over 1,860 clients/victims—including men, women and children—have visited the centre and received professional care to deal with the trauma of rape.
